If you’ve been in your current role for a while, you might be feeling a bit stuck and wondering why you’ve reached a plateau.

Perhaps that early role excitement and desire to progress has started to wane? You’ve passed the point when giving all your time and energy to work seems like a good idea.

Maybe you have the feeling that people are standing in your way and overlooking you as you get older.

That confidence you once felt has faded a little and you’re too focused on what you can’t do and what’s holding you back rather than all your years of experience.

Or you find yourself questioning if it’s what you really want anyway? You’re still hungry for something – it’s not what you’re doing now but you’re not quite able to put your finger on what it is.

If you’d love to feel a passion for something again but you’re not sure how, you’re definitely not alone – you just need to find the right fuel to ignite it!

And there’s no greater time to start searching than now – you’ve still got plenty of time to make a positive step towards a new career that fits the way you want to live right now.

Imagine creating the perfect work life balance, with work that’s both flexible and fulfilling and doesn’t dominate your waking hours like the corporate world.

Leaving you plenty of time for the important things in life – whether that’s caring for children or elderly parents or just having more time to pursue the interests and hobbies you’ve put on the backburner.

I know from looking at my own friends and family that so many people reach that point where it all becomes a bit much and they’ve lost themselves somewhere along the way. The fun parts of life have been squeezed out and they feel as if they’re treading water, just waiting for retirement.

Yet this plateau need not be permanent.

If you’re seeing the signs of dissatisfaction in yourself and wondering if there could be another way, I’m proof that there really is a more rewarding career out there with all the fulfilment and flexibility you crave.

If I look back to my pre-children banking career, I was enjoying the challenges and thriving on the environment but after my children came along, it just didn’t fit the life I wanted and I lost that passion.

Long commutes, workplace politics and expensive childcare were all eating away at my energy, and I found myself struggling to juggle everything else on top of working.

My Nan was needing more support as she got older and I was caring for her too but as I looked for someone to help and give me peace of mind when I couldn’t be there, I just couldn’t find anyone suitable. She didn’t need expensive personal care or medical help, just some caring support to help her keep living the life she loved.

Frustrated at the lack of options, I created my own companionship business in 2005 and I can honestly say it changed my life. My Nan was happy, I was happy and more than that – I’d regained my passion for my work, something I still have today!

It may sound like an unachievable dream yet starting your own companionship business can really offer you all this, and more.

Now I know from my own experience that while the idea of running your own business might appeal, it’s incredibly easy to get caught up in the worries about the initial set up when it comes to starting to work for yourself.

I was a natural when it came to the companionship side of the business, just not so much the red tape and regulations. I made a lot of mistakes, but they taught me a lot!

So, if you’ve found yourself considering a career change but you can’t get past the ‘what ifs’, I’ve created our FAB Senior Programme just for you.

It’s a comprehensive roadmap that shows you how to set up, find clients and create a flexible and fulfilling business. Based on real life experience, it tells you everything you’ll need to know to get up and running.

Then it’s just up to you to go out and rediscover the joy of doing work you love – I can’t tell you how good that feels!
